Fiji Private Island – Matangi
Matangi Private Island Resort is situated on its own 240-acre island paradise in the North-East part of the Fiji group of islands.
After farming the island as a small coconut plantation until 1986, Flora Douglas, whose great grandfather had purchased Matangi island in 1878, and her husband Noel Douglas began on their journey to develop Matangi into one of Fiji's premier island resorts.
Crafted from local hardwoods, bamboo, lava rock and coconut palm thatch, our nine authentic Bures and three unique Treehouses offer a harmonious balance between nature and contemporary elegance. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens yet situated only steps from our private beach, our Bures offer privacy in the most spectacular tropical settings.
Our gorgeous tropical setting, lush rainforest interior, white sand beaches and pristine coral reefs, provide the perfect back-drop for many activities including, snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, fishing, hiking and private picnics. Surrounded by lush tropical foliage, offering ultimate privacy, and yet only steps from the beach, the three split-level Treehouses are unique to Matangi Island.
►Beachfront Bure:
Hand-crafted by local Fijian craftsmen using wood, bamboo, lava rock and coconut palm thatch, our five Beachfront Bures have been carefully designed to achieve a harmonious balance between nature and contemporary elegance.
►Oceanview Bure
Traditional Fijian in design with bamboo walls and coconut palm thatched roofs, the three Oceanview Bures provide simplistic island flavour with all the modern luxuries that Matangi Private Island Resort Fiji has to offer.
►Two Bedroom Bure
Sitting on its own private point only steps from the ocean, our Two Bedroom Bure is the largest accommodation. Built in the same style as our spacious Beachfront Bures, it is ideal for a family, couples traveling together and groups.

DINING & SPA
Situated only 30 feet from the private beach, the spacious Vale-ni-Kana Dining Room boasts breath-taking views of the ocean and our exquisitely landscaped grounds. Built entirely from local timber and showcasing intricately carved poles decorated with coconut fibre rope, this magnificent complex oozes Fijian charm. The cuisine is largely influenced by our tropical surroundings, Fijian heritage and the unique flavours of the South Pacific.
The "Ocean Spa" features a over-water deck with relaxation area, gift shop and two couple treatment rooms, one complete with our unique lava rock rain shower facility. Drawing on inspiration from the traditional Fijian culture and our natural island surroundings, the Spa's interior features intricate carvings of tropical fish and marine life, lava rock and local hardwoods. Our respect for our Fijian culture and the ocean is reflected in the variety of treatments that we offer including the Fijian "Bobo"massage, "Lava Shell"and "Hot Stone" massage as well the "Earth Sea Salt" and "Coconut Sugar Glow" body treatments.
