Quick Info about Trekking in Buthan:


Best season: Spring & Autumn,
Bhutan is best place for true Trekking lover, trekker must be mentally prepared and physically fit to face the unexpected expeditions and abrupt changes in elevation. Treks can be long or short with daily 07-19 kilometers walk to reach the campsites. Bhutan has identified number of trekking routes that render opportunity to experience the cultural, incredible scenic beauty, Entire Himalaya’s ranges, yak herders, flora and fauna and so, it will be always most challenging and memorable experience.

Treks cost Include: Government Licensed Trekking Guides, who are trained to deal with Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), trekking cook, assistants, horsemen, provided three times meals, mattresses (we can provide on minimum charges per day), two men sleeping tents, dining tents, kitchen tents, toilet tents and utensils. Heavier stuff will be carried by horses or yaks but your camera, water bottle and your side bag you only have to carry. Campsite will be always designated at a place where theren will water supply to cook your meals and meadows to feed your ponies.


Need to bring for Treks: Sleeping bags, water proof trekking bag, Strong comfortable trekking shoes, pants, Socks (woolen), cotton T-shirts, Woolen hat, Waterproof jacket, Umbrella, Water bottle, Torch (flashlight, batteries), Pocket knife (be sure this is packed in your checked baggage to avoid hassles with airport security), Sun block (SPF 15-plus), Towel, Laundry soap, Slippers, Insect repellents, Medical & first aid kit, Water purifier tablets, please bring Extra warm cloths, during long trekking you obviously have to change and wash your cloths and etc. There is no trekking store here in Bhutan to buy or rent one and we suggest you to buy this from your place. The trekking cost does not include your insurance.

 

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Paro

On arrival at Paro airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Thimphu. Visit TashichhoDzong, Thimphu’s most impressive building situated at the banks of Wang Chhu is built in 1641.
Evening freely stroll around the town.
Night stay at Thimphu

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast sightseeing around Thimphu, following places will be visited:

1. ChangangkhaLhakhang:Built in 12th century and considered as most important temple for new born babies.

2. MotithangTakin Preserve

3. Memorial Chorten (Stupa): was built in 1974 in the memory of Third King of Bhutan.

4. Buddha Statue: Sited at KuenselPhodrang is one of the largest Buddha rupas in the world

5. TashichhoDzong:Thimphu’s most impressive building situated at the banks of Wang Chu (River) which is also the Office of His Majesty.

Night stay at Thimphu.

Day 03: Thimphu- Punakha

After breakfast drive to Punakha crossing Dochu-la pass (3,088m). The clear day offers the most spectacular view over the highest peaks of the Himalaya.

1. En route stop at Lobesa and take a short hike to ChimiLhakhang. It’s widely believed that childless couples are usually blessed with a child very soon, if they pray at this temple.

2. Visit PunakhaDzong, built in 1637, consider as second oldest dzong in the country. It is built in between two rivers, Female River and Male River.

3. Evening freely scroll around town.

Night stay Punakha.

Day 04: Punakha- Paro (125km/4.1/2hrs)

After breakfast visit:

1. KhamsumYulley Namgyal Chorten

2. Royal Biotical Park at Lamperi

3. Lunch will be served at Dochul la pass/Thimphu, after lunch drive to Paro, visit

4. Paro Dzong (fortress) built in 1646. You will cross a traditional wooden bridge on the way to the Dzong.

5. National Museum (Ta-Dzong) just above Paro Dzong, where we have unique collections of ancient armor, textiles, Thangkha paintings.

Day 05: Day Excursion to Haa vallay

After breakfast drive to Haa valley via Chilela pass. On a clear day there is a superb view of:

1. Mts. Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake. Return back to Paro.

2. DumtsheLhakhang,

3. River Side

4. KichuLhakhangis one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom built in 7th century by Tibetan King. SongtsenGampo to flourish Buddhism in Bhutan.

Day 06: Visit to Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang Palphug Monastery)

After breakfast drive to Paro hiking point.

1. Hike to Taktsang: TaktsangPalphug Monastery more famous as Paro Taktsang is a Buddhist temple complex which clings to a cliff, 3120 meters above the sea level on the side of the upper Paro valley. The TaktsangPalphug Monastery is one of the most famous touristic destinations of the country and the cultural icon of Bhutan. Visiting the Paro Taktsang Monastery is an unforgettable experience thanks to its unique location and the views of surrounding majestic mountains and emerald green valleys. It is believed that in 8th century Spiritual Master (Guru Rinpoche) known as the second Buddha in Bhutan, have arrived here flying on the back of a tigress from Singye Dzong in Lhuntse and meditate in a cave for three month where Taktsang Monastery now stands.

2. DrukgyelDzong:If the time permits we will also visit DrukgyelDzong which is known as the fortress of victory, from here that the Bhutanese repelled several Tibetan armies during 17th century. It was built in 1649.

After the adventurous hike night stay at Paroor if you wish visit town for shopping.

Day 07: Departure

After early breakfast drive to Paro International Airport, our Team will bid you successful good bye to your destination ahead.

 There shall be no charge for CHILDREN below the age of 5 years.
 Between the ages of 5-12 years accompanied by elders/ guardians shall be given 50% discount on daily rates.
 Royalty fee is currently set at $65 per day.

 

Payment Procedure:
Full payment has to be done at leaste one month before your tour start.
 TheTourism Council of Bhutan will not approve visitor visa until the full tour payment is remitted.

 

Reservation & Cancellation Policy

We genuinely hope that you will successfully complete your Bhutan trip making most enjoyable memory of Bhutan.  We assure you to provide every effort to make your experience in Bhutan a memorable one.  We do realize at time due to unavoidable circumstances a trip to Bhutan may need to be cancelled or postponed. Thus we have our judicious cancelation policy to protect but the parties.

Tour programs that are cancelled shall be subject to cancellation charges as follows depending on how close to the arrival date to Bhutan that the cancellation is done:

The following is based on a cancellation before the start of a tour program:

- Up to 35 days                          : 75% of full daily rate will be refunded
- Before 20 - 35 days                 : 50% of full daily rate will be refunded
- Before 25 days                        : 25% of full daily rate will be refunded
- Less than 25 days                    : No refund: by the time everything will be arranged.

 

International Tourist Tariff

The minimum daily tariff quoted below for international Tourist Traveling to Bhutan (Except Indian, Bangladeshi & Maldives) is fixed by Royal Government of Bhutan. All Bhutanese Tour operators in the kingdom have to follow the same standard rate. From the provided rate a royalty of US $65 per day goes to government of Bhutan. This Royalty is for free education, free healthcare, poverty alleviation, along with the building of infrastructure in Bhutan. Alternation in the rate is a criminal act here in Bhutan.

 

Visa Formalities

With the exception of visitors from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all other visitors to Bhutan need a visa. Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationals can obtain a visa at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 month validity (Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)).
All other tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior to travel to Bhutan.  Visas are processed through an online system by your licensed Bhutanese tour operator, directly or through a foreign travel agent.  You are required to send the photo-page of your passport to us. The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in Buthan.  Once received the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours. 

At your point of entry you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped into your passport. 

 

Important Note:

 International visitors must bring 3 colored copies of latest Passport and 6 Photo for visa.
 All passengers are advised to check their passport validity which should not be less than 6 months from the date of travel.
 Indian Embassy is closed on Saturday & Sunday Permission will be allowed on Monday only.
 Department of Immigration Office Thimphu is Closed on Saturday, Sunday & National Holidays.
 Department of Immigration Office Thimphu may remain closed without prior Notice & immediate declaration of Holidays.
