說明 Introduction
It is said to be on of the most Taiwan’s most remote village: Smangus. Before the giant trees in the area were discovered, Smangus was completely cut off from the outside world. The area was only connected to the electricity only in 1979 and the only road to the outside world wasn't even completed until 1995.
Smangus (司馬庫斯部落) is a gorgeous, remote aboriginal village in the mountains of Hsinchu County, surrounded by epic mountain views, bamboo forests and ancient tree groves. Smangus is famous for its grove of giant Cypress trees, which are some of the oldest and largest in Taiwan at up to 2,700 years old.
The Ayatal tribe resides here. Drive an hour away, through winding roads, and arrive at Zhenxibao. Another indigenous village with a network of trails looping through pristine forests and even larger ancient tree groves.
Itinerary
In the morning, you will meet your English (any other language on request) speaking licensed guide/driver at your hotel in Taipei or Taichung. Prepare yourself for a 4 hours drive.
After arrival in Smangus area, you will take a hike in the beautiful area. Hike till the amazing giant Cypress trees, which are some of the oldest and largest in Taiwan at up to 2,700 years old.
The offer of hotels in the surroundings of Smangus are really limited; the accommodation will be simple but clean, in a B&B for example.
If the day of yesterday didn't allow you to hike all the way to the Cypress trees, you will do this today.
Afterwards, drive to the Atayal tribe: drive an hour away, through winding roads, and arrive at Zhenxibao. Another indigenous village with a network of trails looping through pristine forests and even larger ancient tree groves. Meet the local people, get to understand their culture and talk to them.
The offer of hotels in the surroundings of Smangus are really limited; the accommodation will be simple but clean, in a B&B for example.
In the morning you can keep going by discovering the area. Itinerary will depend on the weather and the conditions of the road. Your guide will give you today’s itinerary just the day before. No matter what, it will be an unforgettable experience in the wild nature!
Afterwards your guide/driver will bring you back to Taichung or Taipei.
