This 5-day tour is for those who would like to avoid changing hotel and at the same time visiting Taiwan. A licensed English-speaking guide and driver will let you discover the beauty of the northern coast of Taiwan and Sun Moon Lake.
Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, is located in the northern part of Taiwan and is holding the center of economy, politics, and culture of the country. After the influence of Qing and Republic of China, Taipei is one of the major hubs of the Chinese-speaking world. It is about 25 km southwest of the northern port city Keelung and 40 km northwest of Taoyuan International Airport. Considered to be a global city, Taipei is part of a major high-tech industrial area and also home to various world-famous architectural or cultural landmarks.
About an hour from Taipei, on the northern coast of Taiwan, there is a landscape that looks like if it belongs to another planet! This is Yehliu Geopark, made up of geological formations that jut out of the stony shoreline in shapes resembling faces, mushrooms, ice cream cones and the most popular one, called "Queen's Head".
Jiufen: During the Qing Dynasty, the isolated village housed only nine families, thus the village would request "nine portions" every time shipments arrived from town. "Jiu" means "nine", "Fen" means "portions". Until the 1950's, Jiufen was a prosperous gold mining town but in the next years the town started its decline. This small village is located within hills, next to the mountains, and facing the ocean. Its special location saved it from becoming another anonymous mining ghost town. Jiufen is now a popular tourist destination for Taipeites eager to relive scenes from the past.
Divided by Lalu Island, the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area got its name from the unique terrains that look like sun on one side and crescent moon on the other, the east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the name.Crowned as one of the Eight Wonders of Taiwan, the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area attracts more than six million visits each year.
Sun Moon Lake is the largest body of water in Taiwan and a well-known for its clear, sparkling blue water set against a picturesque mountain backdrop. Located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes of Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu reserved for aboriginal religious practices, therefore the public is not allowed to visit the island.
