Doing a bicycle circuit around Taiwan has now become an item on many people's "bucket list" but not everybody is ready to spend 10 days on a bicycle; let's take it easy and start with this bicycle tour around Sun Moon Lake.
Cycling in Sun Moon Lake is a tranquil tour and will take your breath away. With the most beautiful senery, Sun Moon Lake cycle path is one of the best cycling areas in the world.
說明 Introduction
Located in the heart of Taiwan, the Sun Moon Lake has long been charming curious foreigners and local visitors alike. Its calm and the colored turquoise water has also inspired many ancient Chinese poets and painters.
The route around the largest lake in Taiwan is a three-hour ride, where visitors can enjoy lake scenery, experience Thao aboriginal culture and learn about the local ecology in the Nantou County.
If you arrive in early spring, you can even catch the cherry blossoms near this mirror-like lake.
Itinerary
Xiangshan Visitor Center : The Xiangshan Visitor Center is both for tourism and administrational use. The uniquely designed building has wood-patterned exteriors and wings that stretch like human arms embracing the earth. In addition, the two giant canopy structures, 34 meters long and 8 meters tall each, allow people to enjoy beautiful views of the Sun Moon Lake on top. Having a cup of coffee and enjoying the view of the link of water and sky line will be the most relaxable activity.
Ita Thao Pier：This area is an aboriginal village of Thao with a lot of restaurants, shops and hotels, also one of the four wharfs in Sun Moon Lake. There is an Ita Thao trail begins from the Chunghwa Telecom Building, and leads to Syuanzang Temple. It is 500 meters in length. Tourists can visit the temples via the trail, thus it is also regarded as a "Pilgrim Path".
Sun Moon Lake Gondola : Suggested, rate: NT$300 round trip pass from Sun Moon Lake to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village which is the most convenient way and the shortest distance from Sun Moon Lake to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.
