Crowned as one of the Eight Wonders of Taiwan, Sun Moon Lake is also the most famous source of hydroelectric power; offering key tourist themes - "high mountain and lake”, “indigenous culture”, and ”nature ecology,” the Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area attracts more than six million visits each year. Sun Moon Lake is the largest body of water in Taiwan and a well known for its clear, sparkling blue water set against a picturesque mountain backdrop. Located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes of Taiwan.  Bamboo Rock Garden

While there’s a tiny shrine next to the parking lot at the base of the hill, there’s noting interesting to see inside, so just head up the hill to the garden. At the top of the hill you’ll be rewarded with a tranquil garden dotted by rocks arranged in a zen-like fashion and, of course, hundreds of bamboo trees. It’s a great place to have a rest in the shade of the trees, take some cool photos, mediate on the beauty of nature and, why not, sit on the pebble wall and listen to the grass grow. After you’ve had your enlightenment, you can go for a hike up a marked trail among the bamboo trees. In addition, you can visit the Ecological Learning Center and find out more about the different species of bamboos specific to this area.
