Level requirements: Low beginner to proficiency (12 levels including beginner, intermediate, advanced and proficiency)

Test Preparation Courses

For students wishing to perfect their English, improve their academic skills and enhance their career opportunities for the future, ELC offers Test Preparation Courses. Our Test Preparation Courses are designed to provide a comprehensive study course for our students’ testing needs.

Average class size: 9-10 students

Maximum: 12 students (14 during July and August)
50 minutes per lesson
Level requirements:
Advanced to proficiency (CAE)*, students must pass a pre-test in order to participate in these courses
Number of lessons (per week): 30 lessons (Santa Barbara)
Age: 16+
Start dates: Set start dates; 4, 6, 9, 10 or 11 weeks, exam week immediately following the course end
Test: ELC Los Angeles and ELC Santa Barbara are open authorized test administration sites for all of the Cambridge exams including FCE, CAE and CPE*.

TOEFL PREPARATION AND IELTS PREPARATION COURSES

Average class size: 9-10 students
Maximum: 12 students (14 during July and August)
50 minutes per lesson
Level requirements
: Intermediate to proficiency, students must pass a pre-test in order to participate in these courses
Number of lessons (per week):
► IELTS (Boston): 20 General English lessons plus 10 IELTS lessons

Test: The IELTS Test is offered two to three times per month at all ELC Centers. ELC staff will assist students in registering for the official IELTS Test and/or iBT TOEFL Test.

Academic Programs

ELC is eager to assist you with your long-term academic goals. The Academic Programs are perfect for students who are ready to dedicate themselves to long-term studies. Students may choose our Academic Programs as a gap semester or year program between studies in their home country or as a stepping stone for acceptance into an American university.

UNIVERSITY PATHWAYS SERVICES
► Pre-departure university admissions letter of acceptance
► Students receive individual counseling from a designated ELC academic advisor, the advisor will help students apply and gain admission to the university of their choice
► Direct-entry conditional acceptance (applicable to ELC’s university network) allow students to enter the university without a TOEFL or IELTS score

The ELC Summer Campus Program at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) gives students the opportunity to live on a beautiful American university campus while they study English with ELC. Students attend ELC classes on the UCLA campus located just a 10-minute walk from their dormitory. Students live in a dormitory on the UCLA campus and have free access to many of the UCLA facilities including the John Wooden Center’s fitness center, Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, racquetball and tennis courts, and swimming pools. Students may also visit the Ackerman Food Court and Arcade and the UCLA Student Bookstore. Students also have access to the UCLA libraries.

 

Junior Programs

ELC is happy to welcome young learners to our Junior Programs during the winter and summer months. These all-inclusive programs give young learners the opportunity to engage in classes and activities that are fun as well as educationally and culturally enriching.


FAMILY PROGRAM
ELC welcomes families during winter and summer. ELC’s experienced staff will use their expertise to put together the most suitable package for your family including course, accommodation and activities. A dedicated ELC staff member is available to plan exciting family outings and trips.
